Technical information about accessibility level

If’s digital services are partially compliant with Danish accessibility legislation. Below is a list of known issues. Our ambition is to resolve these issues by the end of 2026.

General sections and functions on if.dk

Perceivability

  • Some images lack alternative text, making them inaccessible to users relying on screen readers.

  • Some links are missing descriptive text – especially those using only icons – which makes them hard to understand for users with screen readers.

  • The text on the icons under the “Hej doctor app” section has insufficient contrast against the background, making it difficult to read for users with visual impairments or color blindness.

  • The focus indicator is not sufficiently visible when navigating over certain images.

  • The focus indicator is also unclear when focusing on breadcrumbs.

  • Some headings are included in the structure but contain no content, which may make navigation harder for screen reader users.

  • Some embedded elements lack a description of their purpose or content, making them inaccessible to screen readers.

  • In some cases, the on-screen text differs from what assistive technologies read aloud, which may cause confusion.

  • Certain text elements do not adapt properly when users zoom or enlarge the text, which may hinder readability for users with visual impairments.

Operability

  • Some elements not intended to be visible can still receive focus when using keyboard navigation, which can be confusing for users navigating without a mouse.

  • Not all links are visually distinguishable from regular text, making them harder to recognize and interact with.

  • Some interactive elements cannot be reached or activated using keyboard only. This may prevent users dependent on keyboard navigation from accessing certain functions.

Understandability

  • Some links on the same page use the same visible link text but point to different destinations, which may be misleading for users who rely solely on link text for navigation.

  • Some input fields do not have clear or properly associated labels, making it unclear what information is required.

  • Some visible labels and accessible names do not match. This mismatch can create confusion when filling out forms.

Robustness

  • Some elements on the page exist in the code but contain no content, which may create confusion for assistive technologies.

  • In some tables, the relationships between header cells and data cells are not properly defined, making the information unclear for screen reader users.

  • Some table headers are not correctly marked in the code, which may affect how assistive technologies interpret the table.

  • Some elements using ARIA roles are missing required attributes, which may reduce compatibility with screen readers.

Known issues in our webshop

  • It is not possible to remove an insurance product directly from the mini-cart.

  • It is not possible to navigate to or open the “special private values” link when calculating the price of a home insurance policy.

  • Some non-decorative elements do not meet the required 1:3 contrast ratio against surrounding elements.

Known issues in our mobile app

  • Some elements (including tabs) that use ARIA roles are missing required attributes, which may reduce compatibility with screen readers.

  • Alternative descriptions for images and icons are not optimized.

  • Tables lack proper semantic structure, making them difficult to use with screen readers.

  • Some buttons cannot be reached using the tab key because they are not properly defined as buttons.

  • Links within text are not underlined.

  • Navigation links lack sufficient contrast.

Our PDF files

Our online services include many PDF files, and not all are accessible.

We will implement the necessary technical changes to some of our systems later, in connection with system updates and further development.
Unfortunately, not all systems can be updated to fully support accessibility. We will address the shortcomings as quickly as possible.

How we test digital accessibility

Accessibility audits are carried out by our internal experts – both manually and using assistive tools.
