What does our travel insurance cost?
When you calculate your travel insurance price you will find the price depends on many things, e.g. whether it should cover the whole world or just Europe.
The price also depends on whether you want our most basic travel insurance, or whether you want Travel Plus or Travel Super.
With the many different types of travel insurance to choose from, the price is very much up to you.
Which countries does the European cover include?
The travel insurance in Europe covers all the EU/EEA countries:
Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Iceland, Croatia, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Britain, Sweden, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary and Austria.
We do not consider overseas colonies to be part of the EU.
If an EU/EEA country's status changes, the cover changes accordingly.
Besides the countries above, we also cover: Andorra, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, the Isle of Man, San Marino, Monaco, Switzerland and the Vatican City.

Which countries does the worldwide cover include?
The travel insurance with worldwide cover includes everywhere except for areas the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against you not to travel to, e.g. because of war or an epidemic.
Who does the travel insurance cover, and for how long?
Our travel insurance covers your entire household all year round, no matter how many times you travel. It covers private holidays of up to 30 or 60 days, depending on your chosen cover.
The travel insurance also provides cover even if the whole household does not visit the same place – for example, the children could go to London while the adults go to Greece.
How does the travel insurance differ from the EU Health Insurance?
The yellow Public Health Insurance Card stopped providing cover outside Denmark on August 1st 2014. The blue EU Health Insurance Card replaced it in Europe.
This means you have to use the blue EU Health Insurance Card or your private travel insurance if you are injured or become ill in Europe.
The cover of our private travel insurance is to some extent the same as that of the blue EU Health Insurance Card. Furthermore, our travel insurance provides other additional cover, e.g. refund of some expenses that the blue EU Health Insurance Card does not cover.
The blue EU Health Insurance Card only covers certain situations, and only in EU/EEA countries. When buying travel insurance you choose whether it is to provide cover worldwide or only in Europe (like the blue EU Health Insurance Card). You also choose how extensive the travel insurance is to be.
Travel insurance benefits:
- Our travel insurance provides you with a Danish 24-hour emergency call centre that will help you when you travel abroad.
(The blue EU Health Insurance Card does not provide this cover.)
- Our travel insurance helps you get the best emergency treatment abroad, in either a private or a public hospital.
(The blue EU Health Insurance Card does not cover treatment in private hospitals.)
- Our travel insurance can repatriate you to Denmark if necessary.
(The blue EU Health Insurance Card does not provide this cover.)

How does the insurance cover illness before a trip?
If you are chronically or seriously ill you must investigate whether your travel insurance covers medical bills, hospital stays etc. in case you need treatment while travelling.
Occasionally we may give you binding advance approval for travel whilst you are ill, meaning the travel insurance covers your specified illness.
We conduct advance medical assessments through SOS International. Feel free to call us on +45 70 12 12 12 or email us at rejse@if.dk if you want to know more.
How does an annual travel insurance differ from a single travel insurance?
An annual travel insurance is valid all year round, covering you all the time, on both planned and spontaneous trips abroad.
A single travel insurance only covers you for a short period of time, usually a single journey - the length and location of the cover are usually determined during the purchase process.
With an annual travel insurance you are always ready to travel, while you need to buy a single travel insurance before each individual trip. If you would also like to relax before departure, it is a good idea to have an annual travel insurance.
Because we want to safeguard and help you to the best of our ability we only offer annual travel insurances – this means you are always covered, even on those spontaneous trips.
How do I get a cancellation insurance?
You can easily get a cancellation insurance at If. When you select either Travel Plus or Travel Super cancellation insurance is automatically included in the travel insurance.
The cancellation insurance means you can easily cancel trips, e.g. if you have undergone surgery, are pregnant or are needed in court.
Your cancellation insurance is valid in the same countries as the rest of your travel insurance.
